Genaro is a graphic designer and educator in Central Texas, helping businesses create memorable experiences resulting in optimal recognition and trust while teaching the ins and outs of graphic design at Baylor University. He deeply believes in the power of storytelling, strong messaging, and thoughtful use of conceptual strategies. Genaro crafts meaningful visual solutions as part of the creative leadership at Legacy79—an award-winning branding agency. Genaro brings a solid bi-cultural mindset to his work, making it stand out in a very unusual way. His clients describe Genaro as a great listener who discerns business needs in a sophisticated, powerful, and unique design—a designer who will deliver solutions that get you noticed. Furthermore, his students describe Genaro as a challenging professor who loves seeing students rise to the occasion and always inspiring his students to love and respect design. Finally, it doesn’t matter to him if you’re a student in his class; Genaro notices and cares. For him, it is not just about academics, grades, or projects but about his students’ career success and well-being. His support always extends beyond the classroom and college. His door is always open.

Discovering the Heartbeat of Mexico.

The project’s original objective was to promote a Mariachi Masterclass by the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Baylor University. Their core message was to explore the traditional passion of Mariachi music and learn its hidden elements in a marvelous presentation that displayed true Mexican heritage! As part of their story, they claimed that Mariachi is the perfect embodiment of tradition we all know and love.

The approach to this second edition graphic execution relied on “mixing and matching” or “taking literally” concept strategies, according to Pricken’s Creative Advertising. Ideas and Techniques from the World’s Best Campaigns book. The shape of the heart took the shape of the guitar soundhole formed by a beautifully coordinated flow of strings shaped by the flight of Mexican folklore birds found in traditional arts and crafts in Central Mexico.
